It is with most sad news that I have just heard, very lately that I should apologise – a deservedly prolific doctor amidst alternative health ~ Dr. Richard Bernstein sadly passed away on April 15th, 2025, at 90 years of age.
For context, Dr Bernstein has been a pivotal source, essential, or cornerstone one may say -amidst the Type-1 diabetics community on low to very low carbohydrate diets. His book Diabetes Solution, originally released in 1997 has been considered by many a must read. Diagnosed with Type 1 at such a young age (12), an engineer initially by trade and then an Endocrinologist at the later age of 45, he ran a private clinic in New York and has been since 1990s – a profound source of help, and inspiration for and amongst those aiming for better management of diabetes.
I do not know nor I can speak on behalf about other readers or YouTube viewers, but I do find Q&A format to be just as engaging, if not more – than conventional “up to date” or “diet daily” channels joining in the bandwagon ~ at keeping up with the scientific Joneses.
As evident throughout so many of his YouTube tele-seminars, I stand by and value the humility of this formatting. No pretentious call to actions. No likes-and-subscribes. Sometimes, I found myself re-watching the same upload more than once or even twice, on repeat ~ among chief topics I am yet to discuss in my channel for instance ~ Gastroparesis.
Hearing what others are asking (and/or saying) anywhere between Keto/LC,IF, and/or even general health ~ Dr Bernstein addressed each of them nonetheless both patiently and humbly. He is greatly missed, and I truly express my condolences for the relatives, one and all.
In honour of the above, I am including in as much links as possible referencing his channels and his work/s spanning from the early 1990s.

PS. When it comes to nutrition and science in the name of “self-improvement” often we see channels pledging allegiance to as few prolific individual(s) as possible; implicating that us “followers” or “viewers” to helplessly absorb such channel’s “ego” and thus compel follow-ship through subscriptions and likes. My channel, on the other hand are both as agnostic and as far removed from these expectations. I treat and view every influential greatness with equal respect. That ~ this isn’t the first time I pay tribute to an influential ~ conflicting or not, with my compass. No matter “who” – I pay respect, that Science stands upon shoulder of so called giants. But upon “whose” shoulders ~ I argue ~ can potentiate from anyone, no matter how small or hidden they are – so long as their voices are bespoke at walking-the-talk. Live-It-Forward, AW.
